Progress in Sodium Silicates for All‐Solid‐State Sodium Batteries—a Review

All solid-state sodium batteries (ASSSBs) are considered a promising alternative to lithium-ion due increased safety in employing components and the widespread availability low cost of sodium. As one indispensable battery system, organic liquid electrolytes currently used their high-ionic conductivity (10−2 S cm−1) good wettability; however, low-thermal stability, flammability, leakage tendency pose concerns. The growing sodium-ion technology with solid is viable solution improved safety. However, suffer from insufficient ionic at room temperature (10−4–10−3 cm−1), poor interface high charge-transfer resistance, wettability, yielding inferior performance. Sodium rare-earth silicates new class materials 3D structure framework similar sodium-superionic conductors (NASICONs). These can be as electrolyte for conduction (10−3 25 °C. Herein, silicate synthesis, crystal structure, ion-conduction mechanism, doping, electrochemical properties discussed. This emerging type inorganic pave way building next-generation ASSSBs.
